I guess I should start out by saying that I have never had any inclination, nor desire, to go cruising. I'm more of a land person - preferring road trips to all other methods of travel. Scott, however, has been hankering for the cruise experience...so when his father offered to take us (all of us) on a 4 day cruise to Ensenada, he jumped (I, of course, argued and then gave in). The cruise was everything I thought it would be, but I do have to say, it was so nice to get away. I mean, really get away. I turned off my cell phone and only checked my email once!
The silly thing about this cruise is that it was so local. It left out of San Pedro Harbor, which is right in our backyard, practically. See the hill in that photo above? That's Palos Verdes. The first day we spent in San Diego - it took us all night to cruise down there, but if we drove, it would have only taken 2 hours. I didn't take too many pictures there, because, well, it's 2 hours away and we've been there a million times. Then, we cruised back up the coast to Catalina - which is right across the ocean from here (22 miles), I can walk around the corner and usually see it clearly, and, we can jump on the Catalina Express and be there in 45 minutes. But once again, it took us all night to cruise there. Cruuuuuuuuuuising.....
I actually hadn't been to Catalina in about 20 years - so it was fun, but the boys were bored. I had a great time with them though, and I suppose we are now at the point where anything Scott & I do embarrasses them. There is a small pleasure in that though, I assure you...
At the Casino - which isn't really a Casino at all - but it's simply a beautiful piece of art deco, built by William Wrigley in the 1930's (I think).
I had to tickle him to get that smirk...but then everytime I took out the camera, he walked away...teenagers!

Not to be outdone...(this was actually on the first day, before we left, we had to practice our evacuation...nice.)
After Catalina, we cruised back down the coast to Ensenada, where we played the part of tourists...
Yes, we did get our name on a grain of rice...
Took in all the sights, sounds, (smells) of town...explored, shopped, and saw some amazing handiwork...
I found some beautiful Mexican pottery, but could only afford a few (small) pieces...
And then it was over! I will definitely consider another cruise, but it would have to be to someplace like Alaska. Mexico was just too close, and, I admit, very depressing. More cruise photos here!
I think that recaps August pretty well! Much of the other time was spent cutting, sewing, figuring out my fall schedule - which is posted on the sidebar, surveying inventory, ordering supplies and trying to stay cool! We are in the middle of our usual August heat wave over here - I'm thankful for the lack of humidity!
